Multi car insurance FAQ

What is third party only cover?

If whilst driving your vehicle, you are involved in a collision which is your fault injuring a member of the public or damaging their property. The policy will pay compensation to the other party to cover their injuries and damage. Unlimited cover is provided for injuries, but most policies include a limit for property damage, this will at least meet the minimum legal requirement of £1million.

What is third party fire and theft cover?

This provides the same cover as third party only, but also pays for loss or damage to your vehicle by fire or theft only.

What is comprehensive cover?

This provides the same cover as third party fire and theft but in addition covers your vehicle for accidental and malicious damage.

Am I covered to drive my car abroad?

Yes, for countries within the European Union but only for the minimum legal requirements (this is normally third party liability for injury or property damage (property damage will be limited to a maximum of £1,000,000 or minimum legal limit of the country being visited, whichever is the higher). It is therefore important that you call us on 0844 892 1387 whenever you are planning to use your vehicle abroad. This will enable us to ensure that your policy is amended to the give same cover as it is in the United Kingdom. If your journey is to include Spain then we recommend that you obtain a Bail Bond. Some insurers will amend the policy for up to 60 days within any one annual period of insurance but this is conditional upon their being notified before commencement of the trip.

Should I cancel my policy now I have bought a new car?

There is no need to cancel your policy as we can change the car insured by your policy mid term. All you need to do is call us first with the new car details and we will inform you of any changes to cover and premium and make the change for you. Call us on 0844 892 1387.

Can I add a driver to my policy for a short period of time?

You can add a driver temporarily to your policy for up to a period of 30 days. Your insurer will charge you an additional premium to do this and the cost will depend upon the age and experience of the driver. Call us on 0844 892 1387.
